One of the more historical (and easy-on-the-ear) spots to visit in Baton Rouge is the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. Many greats have graced the stage, including Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Bottie, Itzhak Perlman and Natalie Cole, each bringing sweet sounds and cultural sophistication to Baton Rouge and its neighboring communities. Always innovative, the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra packs 60+ concerts into its whirlwind season, including offbeat locales like churches and even the lawn of the State Capitol. Upcoming events include an outdoor Symphony Pops performance at the LSU Rural Life Museum on May 9. Three finalists from "American Idol" will join Associate Conductor David Torns and the Baton Rouge Symphony Pops for this benefit concert serving up great tunes alongside some of the South's tastiest jambalaya.
